Running

Greg likes to run.  It helps sweat out some of the old beer, making room for new beer.

Some of the upcoming runs:

Running times for Greg in 2005:

Lazy-Hazy-Crazy Days of Summer 5k 29:20

Maribelle's On the Bay 5k 28:40

Greg joked about his 2nd half time being much better than his first half time because there was beer at the end.  The school teacher (blue shirt) to his right joked with him about it half the race.  They eventually passed the girl in the red shorts, a short brunette had a turn of speed and ... well, you know.

Bolder Boulder 10k 63:45 - too much tequila again...

On the Run Inaugural 5 miles 47:50 - too much tequila

Yuri's Night Run 27:23.  It wasn't all on a road.

Resurrection Run 27:09.

Running of the green (7k in Denver) 46:12.

Tsunami relief run at UH Clear Lake 27:23.

Other Greg and running stuff.

Greg ran a little in college.  He and the other Greg would bet silly things on the annual Buffalo Bill Stampede.  "Let the chips fall where they may" stated one t-shirt.  The only Stampede Greg beat Greg was following a "Come as your favorite Camp Counselor, Halloween Theme party."  There was an altercation with a chick and G. Booth didn't get any sleep.  The race had a false start, G. Booth thought the 50 foot jog was the race, "That wasn't so bad."  G. Booth later took a nap under the tree.  Dale and Greg searched and searched but couldn't find him.  Greg's favorite thing about races is the beer at the end of them.

Greg's more favorite races:

Bay to Breakers

This race is the best spectacle and is in San Francisco.  It's very scenic and great for people watching.  He ran it in 1994 with Ray and to date is the farthest he has ever ran.  His ex watched the end where a naked guy finished.  Greg, "Was he wearing shoes?"  Stephanie, "I didn't notice."

Quad City Times Bix 7

This race is very challenging but the people of Davenport really turn out and help you along the way.  Greg had a really good time in 2000 and had to sit in a tub of ice to cool down.  There is always a Bud truck at the end.  After the beer truck is empty, go to Fricks for cold beer served properly.  Greg has run approximately 5 Bix's, he first started in 1991 when Ray and Jim got him back into running.  Celia sent Greg a great article on Bix.  Click here.

Bolder Boulder

This race has the added challenge of being more than a mile above sea level.  Like the Bix, the people of Boulder turn out and really encourage the runners.  Boulder is very scenic and unlike the Bix, the course is fairly flat.  You are also limited to two free beers, but the bars aren't too far away.  Greg had an abysmal 70 minute time in 2001 but redeemed himself this year.

Cherry Creek Sneak

Greg had an excellent Cherry Creek Sneak despite the fact he stayed up all night after Annies wedding.  This is a fun 5 mile course.

Cooper River Bridge Run

Greg and Greg finished dead last in the 1996 Charleston Bridge Run.  Not that they were in shape but the pubs on King Street didn't help.  People are still perplexed how they could finish the race together two minutes apart?  Officer, "You guys need to get out of the middle of the street, there's a race going on here."  Greg, "Uh, we're in the race."  G. Booth, "Yeah, we're athletes."  Don't trust this, the complete male finishes: http://www.charleston.net/bridgerun/mens.html

Make It to the Line 4-Mile

It's not as cool as it used to be when they ran it on New Years Day.  This race is coupled usually with the Polar Bear dip.  Greg ran it in a cold drizzle on New Years Day, 1994.

Freedom Run 5k

July 4th in Evergreen, CO, 1991 and the only time Greg ever beat Sheila in a race.

Museum of Fine Arts 5k

This is a good early year prep race.  Greg and Kathy ran it back in 1992.  The Museum got lazy and doesn't do it anymore.

Conoco Rodeo Run

Another good early year race.  Greg surprised himself in the early 90's by running the whole thing.  His first 10k ever.  The course used to run from downtown to the Astrodome which was really cool and really flat.
